Sam Houston State’s Student Legal and Mediation Services is excited to welcome Shanece Smith to the team! It is often said of some people that “their personality lights up a room,” and this phrase is certainly true of Shanece. Her smile and her spirit is certainly a refreshing and motivating fixture in the SLMS office.
Shanece is from Arlington, Texas; throughout her life, Shanece has drawn inspiration from her grandmother who serves as a role model of a woman dedicated to strength, independence, and education. Currently, Shanece is a Communications Studies student at Sam Houston State. Apart from bringing smiles to others around her, Shanece also enjoys singing and getting involved in projects and organizations on campus and the broader community. Shanece brings with her an entrepreneurial mind and a servant-leader’s heart that is certainly an example of SHSU’s motto: “The Measure of a Life is its Service.”
After earning her degree from Sam Houston, Shanece aspires to pursue a career in speech pathology. She has a particular passion for serving children with special needs, and to provide support for youth who are disenfranchised or at risk.
For Shanece, the office of Student Legal and Medication Services at Sam Houston is a treasure to the student body. She correctly points out that many of us are likely to, during our college careers, find ourselves in situations in which we will need expert legal consultation—what a gift it is to have free legal consultation available for the students of Sam Houston State University!
So remember, if you are a Bearkat in need of legal consultation, set up a confidential appointment with our attorney by calling us at (936) 294-1717 or visiting us online at shsu.edu/legalservice.
